Amgen-Partners Analytics Platform

Partners Healthcare Network was formed in 1994 by two academic medical centers - Brigham & Women's’ Hospital (BWH) and Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH). Partners institutions have been collecting patient information discretely since 1975.

Since 1999, this data has been warehoused in the Research Patient Data Registry (RPDR), a central clinical data registry for inpatient and outpatient encounters serving to to support clinical research. Today, The RPDR contains almost three billion records from seven million patients. These records include patient diagnoses, medications, procedures, laboratory investigations and their results.

The AMGEN-Partners HealthCare Research & Analytics Platform (the “Platform”) is a cloud-based portal that queries the Amgen data mart, a database built from information in the RPDR.

This wiki provides information about elements in the Platform.

Transfusion services are arranged into three groups: Blood Processing, Blood Products and Blood Typing.

Blood Processing services are derived from the Current Procedural Terminology (CPT) codes in the 86890 to 86985 range, used to describe blood processes such as autologous blood or component collection, or treatment of blood such as thawing or splitting of components.

The Blood Product codes include 19 HCPCS codes and 1 CPT code, used to describe the various blood products such as Red Blood Cell or Cryoprecipitate units.

Finally, the Blood Typing codes include another 19 CPT codes, describing procedures related to blood screening for compatibility or Rh factors, etc.

Specimen data is derived from the EMSI (Enterprise Master Specimen Index). The purpose of the RPDR specimen functionality in the Query tool is to enable Partners investigators to query for consented specimens stored in the Partners Biobank.

Molecular Medicine is derived from the Partners Healthcare Center for Personalized Genetic Medicine (PCPGM) (formerly Harvard Partners Center for Genetics & Genomics (HPCGG)). Within Molecular Medicine is a Genomics folder. This folder is organized into 22 sub-categories. Included are Costello Syndrome, Cystic Fibrosis, Hearing Loss, Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy, Marfan Syndrome TYPE I, Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer, Noonan Syndrome, Usher Syndrome, and Warfarin Metabolism.

Partners HealthCare is a not-for-profit health care system that is committed to patient care, research, teaching, and service to the community locally and globally. Founded in 1994 by Brigham and Women's Hospital and Massachusetts General Hospital, the Partners HealthCare network now includes community and specialty hospitals, a managed care organization, a physician network, community health centers, home care and other health-related entities.

Several of our hospitals are teaching affiliates of Harvard Medical School, and Partners is a national leader in biomedical research.
